What We’re Seeing in the Dallas Job Market

Professional and business services is leading the metro again. The sector added 10,900 jobs over the year through May 2026, up 1.4%, more jobs than any other sector in Dallas-Fort Worth. If you work in accounting, finance, or administrative support, employers are hiring and they are moving quickly on strong candidates.

A little more slack just opened up. Dallas-Fort Worth unemployment ticked up to 4.0% in May 2026 from 3.8% in April, and part of that is seasonal. Dallas County sits at 4.2%, the highest rate among the four largest counties in the metro. More people are looking, so getting your resume in early matters.

AI skills are quietly becoming a differentiator. AI-related job postings across the country rose about 95% in the first half of 2026 while overall postings fell 16%, according to TalentNeuron data reported by Staffing Industry Analysts. Dallas accounting, finance, and administrative openings increasingly favor people who are comfortable working with AI tools. If you have used them, put that on your resume.
