What We’re Seeing in the Dallas Job Market

  • Dallas costs are working in your favor. Consumer prices in Dallas-Fort Worth fell 0.3% year-over-year through January 2026, while the rest of the country saw prices climb 2.4%. That’s a meaningful gap. Whether you’re a job seeker comparing offers from multiple cities or a Dallas employer making a compensation case, the numbers back you up. Dallas is genuinely more affordable right now.
  • Job growth is slowing, but Dallas is still ahead of the nation. DFW added 18,500 jobs year-over-year through November 2025, down from 56,100 at the start of the year. That’s a significant deceleration, but Dallas is still outperforming the national growth rate of 0.1%. The market is more selective, which means quality candidates and quality employers both stand out more than they did 12 months ago.
  • Experienced professionals are still in the market. Professional and Business Services in DFW lost 14,300 jobs year-over-year through late 2025, according to BLS data. That means mid-level accounting, finance, admin, and business professionals who weren’t available 18 months ago are actively looking. If you’ve had a role sitting open, this talent pool is still there.
  • DFW unemployment dipped to 3.6%, still well below the national rate. Dallas-Fort Worth closed out 2025 at 3.6% unemployment, down from 4.0% in November and well below the national rate of 4.6%. The market is competitive, but accessible. The best candidates are still getting multiple offers.
