What Three Things Should You Bring to Every Interview?

What to Bring to Every Interview | PrideStaff Dallas

Congratulations! You’ve just been invited to an interview for a job you’re really excited about. Now it’s time to start preparing for the big day. You only get once chance to make a great first impression, so do everything in your power to ensure you’re ready for any curveballs the day throws your way.

In the days leading up to your interview, take the time to rehearse answers to common questions, choose a polished interview outfit and prepare a list of questions to ask the interviewer. When the day finally arrives, allow plenty of extra time in case you hit unexpected traffic, get lost or encounter another unforeseen circumstance that causes a delay in your schedule.

3 Things to Bring to Every Job Interview

Don’t leave for your job interview without putting the following three things in your briefcase:

Several Copies of Your Resume

Hiring managers often reference a candidate’s resume during the interview, to learn more about skills and experience listed. In most cases, they’ll bring a copy of their own to the interview, but sometimes they forget. Always come prepared with several copies of your resume in case anyone you meet with needs one. If asked, you definitely don’t want to be caught off-guard and forced to admit you failed to bring any.

List of References

If the interview goes well, the hiring manager may ask for a list of references to contact. Instead of causing a delay in the interview process, come prepared with the information. Be sure to contact all of your references beforehand, to ensure they’re aware that someone may be calling to talk about you.

Pen and Paper to Take Notes

Always bring a pen and paper to every interview in case you need to write down any pertinent information. Showing up empty handed makes you appear ill-prepared and uninterested in the position. The last thing you want is to have to ask for something to write on because you didn’t think ahead.
