- Bad Reason ─ Hating Your Boss: It can definitely be taxing reporting to someone you can’t stand. However, that alone is not a good reason to leave the company. Instead, talk to HR and see if there are any comparable positions in another group or department you can transition into.
- Good Reason ─ There’s No Room to Grow: Even if you love your job, you can’t let it stunt your career growth. If you’ve outgrown your current position and there’s no way to move up, it’s time to move on.
- Bad Reason ─ More Money: While you may think accepting a new position solely for its high salary is a great idea ─ it’s not. Money can’t buy happiness, so when the thrill of a higher paycheck wears off, you’ll just be stuck with a job you don’t really like.
- Good Reason ─ Your Current Company is in Jeopardy: If your company has been on the decline for awhile with budget cutbacks, layoffs and a general shared uneasiness around the office, it may be time to start you job search.
